Amino acid sequence of a sarcoplasmic calcium-binding protein from the sandworm Nereis diversicolor.
Muscles of invertebrate species contain abundant quantities of soluble, sarcoplasmic, high affinity Ca2+-binding proteins (SCBPs). The SCBPs belong to the calmodulin superfamily and contain four homologous domains (I-IV) which arose by reduplication of a gene for a small ancestral protein. We have determined the amino acid sequence of the SCBP from the sandworm Nereis diversicolor. This protein...
متن کاملCrystallization and preliminary x-ray investigation of sarcoplasmic calcium-binding protein from Nereis diversicolor.
Crystals of sarcoplasmic calcium-binding proteins from Nereis diversicolor have been grown from solutions of ammonium sulfate. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P2(1); the axes are a = 43.65 (1), b = 56.05 (1), c = 65.77 (1) A, and beta = 92.58 (2) degrees. The crystals are quite stable to x-rays and diffract beyond 2.5 A resolution. The asymmetric unit contains two protein molecules.
متن کاملKinetics of conformational changes in Nereis sarcoplasmic calcium-binding protein upon binding of divalent ions.
The sarcoplasmic calcium-binding protein (SCP) of the sandworm Nereis possesses three Ca2(+)-Mg2+ sites but no Ca2(+)-specific site. Binding of Mg2+, but not of Ca2+, displays a marked positive cooperativity. The apparent cooperativity of Ca2+ binding in the presence of Mg2+ results from the allostery in Mg2+ dissociation. Binding of the first Ca2+ or Mg2+ induces all the conformational change,...
متن کاملAmino Acid Sequence Analysis of Hemagglutinin Protein of H9N2 Isolated from Broilers in Tehran in 2007
Background and Aims: Since 1998, Iranian poultry industry has been affected by avian influenza (AI) virus, subtype H9N2. The association of high mortality and case report of H5N1 and H9N2 influenza virus in wild birds in recent years raised the suspicion of a possible new genetic modified AI virus. Methods: Partial nucleotide sequences and deduced amino acid of hemagglutinin (HA) genes of 4 H9...
متن کاملThe Effects of Phthalates on Nereis diversicolor
Animals are exposed, in the natural environment, to a range of human activity related dissolved chemicals that are potentially impacting on their fitness. The animals responses to such stress determines its fitness, physiology and in case of chemical signals also its behaviour. If physical or chemical changes in the ecosystem make the detection of such a chemical impossible, then it can be reas...
